Hello world!
I have NO IDEA what I am doing. I’m not a writer, I’m not a blogger. This is mostly a cathartic exercise. I love my family and I love the life we live, albeit messy and disorganized. Since the birth of our son in 2021, I have wanted to share our life in hope of encouraging others. Our son Noah has Down’s Syndrome. It was definitely a surprise and it definitely still takes some getting used to but we couldn’t be happier to have Noah in our lives. Noah has taught us MANY things. First and foremost, that we take ourselves too seriously. Everything needs to be dialed, organized, put together, the perfect pictures and outfits and recipes. Life isn’t that. It is messy and chaotic. Noah has shaken things up in more than one way. While pregnant with Noah, we dreamt about all the outdoor adventures we would take with our kids. Dreaming about how fun it would be to teach them to ski and whitewater raft, exploring the mountains behind our house. With Noah’s diagnosis it felt like those dreams were dashed. A lot of questions entered our lives. We took Noah camping 2 weeks after he was born. My husband and I promised each other to continue striving to be outdoors with him. Since then, Noah has been rafting, skiing, hiking, swimming, camping, horseback riding. Some people have judged our choices to continue to live adventurously with our children, but for us its what makes sense. It’s what keeps us connected and gives us a sense of “normalcy.” I am here to show you that living an outdoor lifestyle doesn’t need to stop, it’s just going to look different.
