Pleased to meet you!

Hi! I’m Samantha, the caretaker of this little blog. Originally from Arkansas, I now call Montana my home. My husband, Josh, is originally from Montana and will take any opportunity to let you know. I would in no way claim to be homesteading but we do love living connected to our land. We have a humble three acres that are home to our large garden, chickens, a blind golden retriever, and two feral children. Before kids we used to live an adventurous life of backcountry skiing, whitewater rafting, backpacking, and peak-bagging. Pretty much everything everyone in NW Montana does, we aren’t special.

In 2021 we had our son, Noah. A little greedy with the chromosomes, Noah has Down Syndrome. Albeit an emotional roller coaster, he’s been the blessing we didn’t know we needed. Our daughter, Lou, was born in 2023. She’s a firecracker to put it lightly. Her RBF (resting baby face) will send shivers down your spine, make you question yourself and apologize immediately. While kids, one with special needs, has changed our lives, we are still aiming to live adventurously with them. We are here to provide encouragement and resources for living a fantastical life outdoors with your children, even those with special needs.

We named our garden 21 Rows after the 21st chromosome triplicity. So naming the website 21 Rows was a natural continuation. The garden is a peaceful place for us to spend time as a family playing in the dirt. A long term goal would be to have some acreage that is farmed with the intent to employ people with special needs and provide organic, locally grown food to the community.
